The meeting, set for 3:00 PM via teleconference, marks a decisive step for the <strong>MaaS for Italy<\/strong> initiative, a plan included in the <strong>PNRR framework<\/strong> that aims to <strong>redesign the boundaries of mobility through technological innovation<\/strong>. During the session, the <strong>Discussion Paper 2026<\/strong> will also be examined, a document that will guide the discussion between institutions and the main actors in the sector.<\/p>\n<h2>MaaS for Italy: one ecosystem for mobility<\/h2>\n<p>The fundamental objective of the initiative is <strong>to overcome the fragmentation of services<\/strong> to offer a fluid and integrated travel experience. Specifically, the \u201c<strong>Mobility as a Service<\/strong>\u201d (MaaS) model intends to <strong>aggregate public and private transport<\/strong>, such as taxis and sharing, into a single digital environment where the user can plan and pay for every movement via <strong>a single channel<\/strong>. In this context, the State will act as a regulator and enabler by financing the creation of the \u201c<strong>Data and Service Repository for MaaS<\/strong>\u201d <strong>(DSRM),<\/strong> an open platform that guarantees interoperability between operators according to European standards.<\/p>\n<h2>The balance of local trials<\/h2>\n<p>In view of the <strong>June 30, 2026<\/strong>, deadline for experimental activities, the April table will analyze <strong>data from the thirteen pilot projects activated<\/strong>. According to the official website of the Italian Government, the trial path initially involved the cities of Milan, Naples, and Rome, before extending to Bari, Florence, and Turin, and finally reaching a multi-territorial dimension in seven regions and autonomous provinces, including Bolzano and Veneto. To complete the <strong>technological framework<\/strong>, two Living Labs were established in Milan and Turin focused on cooperative and autonomous mobility integrated into the MaaS system.<\/p>\n<p>Perspectives for a more connected Italy The April table aims to define a <strong>long-term strategy<\/strong> <strong>to modernize the entire transport network<\/strong> with the goal of promoting more sustainable, integrated, and inclusive mobility, <strong>reducing dependence on private vehicles<\/strong> with positive impacts on traffic and the environment.
